1. How should I address an elected official?
They should be addressed as "The Honora
ble" plus name or their "Position" plus name. For example, if you meet the mayor or a city councilmember, address her as "The Honorable Jane Doe" or "Councilmember Jane Doe".

2. How can I contact my elected officials?
You can contact them anytime during business hours by phone, mail or email. For a list of elected officials and their main contact information, see the local phone book's blue government pages.

3. Who should I make complaints to?
If you are unhappy about a policy or the way an elected official handled an issue, you can contact the elected official directly and express your concerns directly to her offices.

If you have a complaint regarding the conduct of an elected official or his staff, you can contact the Office of Citizen Complaints. This ombudsman office investigates reports of improper governmental action and violations of King County's code of ethics.
