1. What can I legally carry to protect myself?
Legally, you can carry a small canister of mace or pepper spray. Try not to get in the habit of keeping them in your pocket or in your purse as you may not be able to get to it in time before someone reaches you. You can purchase these, as well as other protective gear and tools, at gun shops, police supply stores and some hardware stores.
